Photo & Videography Competition showcases local talent at SUKMA 2024

KUCHING:  The Photography and Videography Competition, held alongside SUKMA 2024, successfully highlighted the skills of local youth, bringing added excitement to the biennial sports festival happening in Sarawak this year.

Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operation) and SUKMA 2024 Chief Executive Officer, Datu Hii Chang Kee, shared that the competition, which ran from August 12 to 24, featured three categories: Open, Youth, and Videography.

"We received a very positive response, with 1,078 entries in the photography category and 59 entries in the videography category," he said.

Datu Hii also mentioned that the winning photos and videos will be featured in the SUKMA 2024 'Coffee Table Book,' to be published by the SUKMA secretariat.

He said this during a press conference at the Photography and Videography Competition Award Ceremony for SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024, held on Friday.

In the Open Photo category, Ahmad Izzrafiq Alias secured the top prize with a cash award of RM3,000. The second-place winner, Mohmad Nahari Naha, received RM2,000, while Juna Medan took third place with RM1,000.

In the Youth category, the winner was Haziq Aqil, who earned RM2,000. Gregory Tan Wei came second with RM1,000, and third place went to Azizan Yakub, who won RM750.

For the Videography category, Sylvester Alex Wong emerged as the winner, receiving RM2,000. Yunus Yussop claimed second place with RM1,000, while Mohd Faizal Ahmad took third place with RM750.

Also present at the ceremony were Khairul Nizam Morshidi, Chief Secretary of SUKMA Sarawak 2024, and Zulazhar Sheblee, Deputy President of the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA). --Edisi UKAS
