​​​​​​​Sarawak launches SUKMA XXI App

KUCHING: Sarawak has launched the SUKMA XXI application designed to provide sports enthusiasts, including athletes, coaches, and officials with the latest updates on the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI) Sarawak 2024.

Sarawak Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said with this launch, Sarawak becomes the first region to develop its own app for SUKMA.

According to him, the development of this app aligns with the vision of Sarawak Premier, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg to enhance regional services through Digital Economy.

"The app will feature various menus, including competition schedules and results, current medal standings, and live updates. 

“In addition, users can also get the latest news and live broadcasts through the TV Sarawak (TVS) website,” he said in a press conference after the launch of the SUKMA XXI app at Baitulmakmur II, on Friday.

The public can download the app on their smartphones through the Apple Store, Play Store, and AppGallery.

At the same event, Dato Sri Abdul Karim who is also the Sarawak Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts launched the SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 Operations Centre which will be operational from August 9 to September 28, following the conclusion of the Para SUKMA Games.

"Through this command centre, we can also monitor competitions live and keep track of the medal standings.

“At the same time, it will allow us to manage logistics information including accommodation, transportation, catering, volunteers and staff via the Event Management System," he added.

The launch of these two mediums is expected to streamline information dissemination regarding SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024 across all 50 venues in the nine divisions of the region.

Also present at the event were Sarawak Deputy State Secretary (Operation) and Chief Executive Officer of SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024, Datu Hii Chang Kee, Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Morshidi Fredrick, Permanent Secretary to the Sarawak Ministry of Women, Early Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datu Felicia Tan Ya Hua, and General Manager of Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), Dato Dr Anderson Tiong Ing Heng. -Edisi UKAS
