KUCHING: The SUKMA Sarawak field bowling team displayed an excellent performance by winning all the categories contested on the first day of the group stage.

This meets the target set by Sarawak's head bowling coach, Nur Fithri Yaani Hamdin.

His team won in the three men's, women's singles, men's pairs and women's fours categories.

Therefore, he continues to demand his athletes to show the same performance at the group-level competition tomorrow (Wednesday) and lead in their respective category groups.

"For tomorrow, they have to give more to reach the target of being the top six in the group.

"Because in that group, if we reach the top six, we automatically go to the 'semi-finals'," he said when interviewed after the end of the first day of group-level competition for the field bowling event at the Sarawak Field Bowling Arena here, today.

Accordingly, Nur Fithri hopes that his athletes will book a place in the semi-finals in the second session.

According to him, some techniques need to be improved by athletes to strengthen their game.

At the same time, he appreciated the support of the public who came to give support to the Sarawak field bowling team, thus sparking their enthusiasm to perform better.

Today's field bowling event opened at 8 o'clock this morning with Sarawak's three-man team defeating Johor's three-man team with a result of 14-10.
