SUKMA 2024: Dato Sri Abdul Karim is optimistic about the performance of Sarawak athletes

MUKAH: Sarawak Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister, Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah expressed his happiness following Sarawak's success in winning the first gold medal in wushu in conjunction with the 2024 Malaysian Games (SUKMA).

According to him, he is optimistic about the Sarawak team's performance in various sports events that are currently taking place.

"Apart from Sarawak, states such as Malacca and Selangor also managed to obtain gold on the same day.

"Sarawak is currently ranked third or fourth in terms of total gold collection and overall achievement.

"This is just the first day and I am confident that the performance will continue to improve in the next events," he said.

He said this in a press conference after watching the football match between Sarawak and the Federal Territory which ended in a 1-1 draw at Mukah Stadium on Wednesday evening.

Accordingly, he also monitored the development of other sports events taking place in Kuching, Samarahan and several other locations.

In the meantime, he expressed his happiness that there were no untoward incidents, with all events going smoothly as planned.

In addition, Dato Sri Abdul Karim also announced that the Sarawak futsal team had won against Pahang at the Samarahan Indoor Stadium which was filled with loyal supporters of the state team.

Therefore, he hopes that the enthusiasm and full support from the people of Sarawak will continue to flourish in all sports venues, further helping the state achieve the championship in SUKMA 2024. - Edisi UKAS
